Survey Shows Optimism for Green Cleaning in Face of Slowing Economy
Bloomington, Ind. - A recent survey sent to approximately 5,000 subscribers of
DestinationGreen, the monthly newsletter of The Ashkin Group, indicates the prospect of a
recession will not pose a serious blow to the "greening" of the professional cleaning

Healthy Flooring Can Affect Air Quality
Hanover, Md. - New research gives evidence that the type of flooring selected can make a
difference in the quality of indoor air. A study supported by the National Institute of
Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) shows that there are bacterial chemicals called
endotoxins, which are a by-product of bacteria that is found particularly in indoor areas.

Reading, Pa. - EcoLogo and TerraChoice Environmental Marketing, a North American
environmental certifying, labeling and marketing program, has released a listing of
jansan-related products that have recently been EcoLogo-certified.

CRI Awards First Seal of Approval for Commercial Vacuums
Dalton, Ga. - The Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) announced the first commercial vacuums
to earn certification under its Seal of Approval/Green Label testing program. An
independent testing laboratory certified that the vacuums meet high industry standards for
soil removal, indoor air quality and carpet fiber protection.

University of Alberta: "Cleaning for a Healthy U"
Edmonton, Alberta - The University of Alberta has implemented a full-scale green cleaning
program, Cleaning for a Healthy U." The program was developed in conjunction with
JohnsonDiversey, a global provider of cleaning and hygiene solutions, with a goal of
reducing the amount of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) used in cleaning while also
eliminating many of the airborne particulates indoors.
